Do you know what truly drives you? Do you live your core values? And do you realise how much your values influence your leadership style—and even your energy level?
In the rush of our daily life, it’s easy to overlook these questions. Between back-to-back meetings, family obligations, social events, and squeezing in a moment for ourselves, we often feel more like jugglers than leaders. Amid this constant busyness, when was the last time you stopped to consider if what you’re doing aligns with your personal values—not the values of your organisation or what others expect, but the values that define you?

A Question That Sparked Reflection
This was the very question I asked during a recent workshop at the Leadwell Conference in Gdansk, organised by O4 Coworking. I invited the participants to take a moment to reflect on their personal values and consider how well these values align with their work and daily life.
I thought it was a simple prompt, but it caused serious reflection. Many realised they hadn’t thought about their core values in years, or questioned if their work truly reflected what mattered most to them. The participants in the room clearly started re-evaluating their path and purpose. Something that didn’t stop when they left the room.
That’s when the GrowthTailor Leadership Compass was born.
What Is the GrowthTailor Leadership Compass?
Seeing the impact of this exercise, I wanted to make it accessible to more people. So, with the help of ChatGPT, I created the GrowthTailor Leadership Compass—a FREE and ALWAYS AVAILABLE virtual “buddy” designed to guide you in exploring your personal values, purpose, and goals. Imagine having a companion who listens, asks thoughtful questions, and helps you uncover what really matters to you.
But why would you use this tool? Probably, because really understanding our core values might be more important than we often realise ourselves.
What Is ChatGPT, and How Does It Power the Leadership Compass?
ChatGPT, which stands for Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer, is a type of AI language model developed by OpenAI. It’s designed to understand and generate human-like responses based on the text it’s given. Essentially, ChatGPT interacts with you in a conversational way—much like chatting with a thoughtful friend or advisor.
We used this technology to create the GrowthTailor Leadership Compass, an interactive tool that guides you through questions and reflections to help you uncover your personal values, purpose, and goals. Even if you’re new to AI, using ChatGPT is simple: just type naturally, respond to the prompts, and let ChatGPT help you explore your insights at your own pace.
Why Core Values Matter in Leadership
Core values are the foundation of effective, authentic leadership. Acting as an invisible compass, they subtly guide our decisions and actions, grounding each choice in purpose and authenticity.
On the other hand, when values are misaligned, you may feel drained, frustrated, or unfulfilled.
Yet, many leaders find it challenging to name their values or apply them meaningfully. The Leadership Compass uncovers these essential values by guiding you to reflect on moments of true fulfilment and success.
Steps to Find Your Unique Purpose
The next phase in the Leadership Compass journey is the Find Your Purpose exercise, where you dive deeper into your personal “why.” Through a series of reflective questions, you identify your unique strengths, motivations, and the impact you wish to make. Distilling these answers into a purpose statement provides a guiding principle that informs both your long-term goals and daily choices.
Refining Your Professional Brand and LinkedIn Profile
Once your values and purpose are clear, it’s time to put these insights into action. The GrowthTailor Leadership Compass guides you in crafting an authentic LinkedIn profile that reflects your values-based leadership style. This isn’t just about listing skills or job titles; it’s about building a narrative that speaks to your unique strengths, the impact you aim to make, and what drives you as a leader.
A values-based profile does more than attract attention; it creates connections with like-minded professionals who resonate with your purpose. Whether you’re expanding your network, attracting clients, or aligning with a team that shares your vision, an authentic profile supports meaningful connections.
Turning Purpose into Actionable Goals
The GrowthTailor framework doesn’t stop at introspection. If you wish it guides you to define a short-term, purpose-driven goal that aligns with your values. What specific impact do you want to make? What steps will you take to make it happen? These questions guide you in setting clear, measurable intentions, helping you stay aligned with the leader you aspire to be.
Reflect, Refine, and Grow with the Leadership Compass
The journey with the Leadership Compass doesn’t end once your purpose is articulated or your LinkedIn profile is polished. We encourage continuous reflection so you can revisit and refine your values, goals, and achievements over time. By regularly assessing how aligned your actions are with your evolving purpose, you ensure that your growth remains authentic and impactful.

How to Use the GrowthTailor Leadership Compass GPT
The Leadership Compass GPT is designed to be a supportive, interactive tool to guide you through the discovery of your core values, purpose, and goals. Here are some tips for getting the most out of it:
1. Take Your Time
Don’t rush through the prompts—give yourself time to pause and reflect. At the same time, don’t overthink it; often, your first answer is the most authentic. Remember, there are no wrong answers. If, later on in the process, you recall something valuable—perhaps even more important than what you initially shared—just include it. This kind of reflection often deepens as you go, and the more you get into the flow, the more profound your insights are likely to become.
2. Make it a Conversation
Think of this experience as a chat with a close friend (or with me!). Feel free to share openly, especially if you’re uncertain or have new ideas. If you find it hard to choose between values, let the GPT know. Say, “I’m having trouble choosing,” and it can help clarify.
Keep adding new thoughts as they come to you. This process works best if you explore, refine, and enrich the conversation along the way.
3. Ask for Summaries and Profiles
As you uncover your values, purpose, and goals, you can ask GPT for a summary to capture the insights. For example, say:
“Can you make a profile of me including the 5 core values that I can share in a job interview?”
If GPT creates a purpose statement or summary, reflect on how well it matches your own sense of direction. You can expand by sharing how you see your role in life evolving—GPT will draw on your input to refine your compass.
4. Personalise the Language
Use words that feel natural to you, and don’t hesitate to let GPT know if it uses language you don’t like. You can communicate in any language you prefer, and GPT will adapt to your style and tone. Request to switch to your language if you wish.
5. Keep Moving at Your Own Pace
When you feel ready to move forward, just ask, “What’s next?” or tell GPT what you’d like to do. You can also guide it specifically, like asking for a LinkedIn profile summary or a refined professional bio.
6. Provide Feedback and Share Your Thoughts
GPT thrives on your feedback. If it resonates with you, let it know! And if it’s missed the mark, don’t hesitate to be honest—GPT can quickly adjust and refine based on your responses.
7. Revisit and Iterate
After a few rounds of exploration, it can be helpful to ask GPT for an updated profile summary or headline, especially if new insights have emerged. Feel free to add any relevant details you may have overlooked at first; GPT can incorporate new information seamlessly.
8. Looking for value name inspiration?
It is probably challenging to define your values. To inspire you we have made a list of potential values based on several sources. Let it inspire you.

When you’re ready, ask GPT to help you apply your refined values and purpose to your LinkedIn profile or job descriptions. You can let it update or adjust role descriptions to better reflect your leadership style and core values.
